The Department provides Readers of general linguistic courses for other departments of the Faculty of Philology as well as some other faculties at St. Petersburg State University.

In addition to the list of obligatory courses the students at the Department are offered special courses and workshops to choose from.

The Department provides research preparation and supervision for postgraduates and PhD applicants in degree qualifications 10.02.19 «Theory of Language» and 10.02.20 «Indo-European, typological and comparative linguistics».
